Medusa!

As a bit of business news; I made a break through last night on the BadBlood Chop-Shop and it looks like I might really, actually, get it to work -- :D yay~!

Anyhoot~

Woo yay~! Got my contact lenses, I'm a happy camper :D~! Had a nice experience with my new eye doctor, didn't have to get my eyes all dialated either (always hated that >_< ), and so I'm all set ^_^

Was a bit of another long day with the family though, with lots of shopping errands and what all, only to come home and have to rip through the chores I didn't get done yesterday... damn, I just remembered that I still need to sweep... geh.

Tomorrow will be a bit of fun day, going over to Travis' with everyone to play a session of Axis and Allies. Travis always gets to play Germany damnit >_< ! The first time I played I got stuck with Russia and lost, and then Britian (and lost), this time though I'm gonna demand I get the US -- or ELSE! >:|

Well so anyways, now begins the photos of bad hair... oh yes. No shame here, by god!

A sugar-hyped moment from the summer of 1984 after my last year in public school. My mom took the picture, had been going on and on about my long pretty hair, and I just couldn't contain myself or sit still for a proper photo. Little did she know that my hair earned me the school nickname of Medusa, especially as the bullies earned one of my trademark glares. It was a horrible final year and I was ever so happy to finally be free of the bullshit.

I spent most of '85 doing the home study thing (for the 7th grade), but never completed the course. Even though I earned excellent grades (for once) I couldn't stand the 7th Day Adventist curriculum (especially for science, which I loved) -- I finally told my mom I wasn't going to do it anymore. She unwillingly relented, and from that point on I was on my own for education...

Get off the damn highway!

Wow, man, it's kind weird to realize how far the web has come in the years since I first leapt on it.... nothing gives a good reminder like trying to cruise the information super-highway with a near model-T relic of a machine.

I got a good 7-hour look at my mom's newly purchased used iMac; a G3-640 Mhz with 320 MB RAM... not that bad really, but it's the OS 9.0.4 that kills it... like trying to get the poor thing a decent browser... of course Firefox doesn't go back that far, and nether does Opera (as far as I can tell... someone should tell Opera that their website sucks on sys req info), so that left the retro versions of IE and Netscape that the box came with... eesh -- can't trust IE as far as I can throw Microsoft, and Netscape is like a CSS retard.

Of course that doesn't cover the fun with javascript links that won't work no matter what browser you got (that's what took the most time, trying to get a printer driver the really round-about-way), heh, yeah... lot's of fun. What was frustratingly funny was I couldn't even bring up the sites I wanted to show her for getting her business started, like GoDaddy.com, PayPal, etc -- ha! fat chance...

She is able to return the machine (minus 20%), but it was the best used one they had... and frankly she can't afford much more then what she already spent... and well, I told her she can come use mine when she had a problem site to use. So hopefully this'll still work out.

Speaking of which, here is my mom and I (circa 1982-3 I think...):

Gotta love the forgotten crap stuffed under the couch -- LOL~ That and my lame attempt at trying to dress like a chola to fit in with girls at school (this was in Sacramento), I soon realized I'd never fit in though, and lived fairly happily ever since ^_^

Picture day... *twitch*

Another Wednseday night and another BadBlood upate... dang these weeks go buy like lightning!

My mother went out and bought herself a used iMac for $300 today... though it's got OS 9 on it... so I don't know if I'll be able to help her much with it, but that's for sure what I'll be doing pretty much all day tomorrow -- I was just outside and my sister passed by on her way out and let me know that mom was on AOL trying to get it to work... I'm gonna have to get her on NetZero as well, ASAP!

I have an eye doctor appointment scheduled for Friday, which I'm happy about because it's been like... 4 years since my last one, and I'd really like to get contacts again. As Craig said I'll soon be sticking my finger in my eyes again.... though I have never had a problem, I can see why a less steady person would have a hard time getting contacts in... let alone out. I just can't wait though... damn I wish it was tomorrow!

Craig picked up Blade: Trinity today, so I'll be watching that tomorrow if I can get free time away from mom and the iMac... probably not, but I'll try!

At any rate, have you ever noticed how purposfully grade school photos look like shit? I always hated and depised picture day at school, as I was always an unruly child in the yard; climbing trees, getting muddy, coming in to get my picture taken with grass in my hair... which of course would mean that they'd try to comb the rat's nests out, and so... I'd always end up looking like I wasn't really happy... and I wasn't. I hated when I got talked into wearing something nice too. Really put a crimp in my non-style. An angel I was not.

We're just gonna zip through these then:

*phew* Okay, that wasn't that bad... though really... the worst is yet to come.

When the grass is blue...

Got the next page inked today, and I must say I really hate oval thought balloons... oh yes.... especially since I don't really have a proper sized template for them... damn things...

Anyhoot~

I have a fantastic neighbor. She likes to listen to Blue Grass and occasionally picks away skillfully at her banjo. A BANJO! In MY neighborhood -- where half of everybody bumps down the street in their ancient Cadilacs to 'urban' music, on the way to meet their crack whores... or whatever it is they do around here.... but yeah, I friggin' love it! It's kinda nice to be in the bath and have her music plinking faintly through the wall... very refreshing.

Tangentially to Blue Grass, is this pic; one of my faves:

This was the year (1979) that I seriously wondered if there would be a 1980, or if the world was going to end... strange thing to think for a kid... or perhaps not, since we were still doing Nuclear Attack drills at school, among other things to counteract the Fear. Strange times indeed... I recall also having serveral bouts with head lice, and came to dread the smell of the school nurse (she was a freak anyways; a gum snapping witchhazel-peppermint scented bubble-haired wanna be fashion-model with too much black eye-liner, and who always had a white pen tucked behind her right ear... *shivers*).

Oooo... fire...

Just got back from hanging out with the boys around Byron's back yard fire bowl, was fun, had a few beers and relaxed after a day of work (got the page penciled AND a reader sketch done, muahahahah~!) and stress.

The stress was from Comcast (our cable company) being a fucko. They have this annoying habit of sending out their bills about 5 days before the previous one is even due, so the last two bills have come as being overdue because the check just makes it in under the wire. This last time though, we SENT the damn check on April 6th, and it didn't get deposited until April 22nd (and of course they mail their statements on the 19th every month). It just pisses me off that they sat on the check for that long (what, was someone using it as a coaster on their desk or something?!). I was so irate, I had to have Craig call and chew them out.... he was entirely too polite.

Anyways... so yeah, fire and beer cures all. I'm just fine now :D

This is a really weird picture... Not even sure who took it, but it's way too 'staged' and makes me look like a little evil Queen or something. I remember that doll though... hell I think this was my bithday party or something, and that's when I got the doll. It didn't last very long... things like that tended to get dragged through the mud and have their clothes modify by errant scissors. Maybe I was a little evil Queen after all.

Fun & Games

Had a nice gaming session last night... though we really didn't game much, but it was nice to have everyone together and save money at the same time. Everyone being Byron (storyteller for the night), Jack, Travis, Thomas, Jacob, Craig and myself. I think though that our number, the year-old Exaulted campaign, and our rusty RP skills conspired to turn it into a session of socializing.

A year ago I started in the campaign with a pretty powerful political character, until about six months ago she got yanked and I started again with a former male sex slave who's a much more fun and deep character to play (though at times I think the guys are a little twitchy with my antics lol). At any rate I've requested that I continue with him and develop more stuff around him, so likewise I've been asked to write out his character history.

If it's at all entertaining I'll share it here upon completion. I was going to work on it today, but I realized I'd need to confer with Jack, Byron and Craig to do so, so I just tinkered with the BadBlood site and watched Empire Strikes Back instead. Not at all a bad Sunday... especially since I wasn't hung-over or anything lol.

As of right now I'm posting this from Photobucket to see how it works, since I'm going through these photos. Hope it don't screw up.

L-R: In the background is Uncle Max, Grandpa, and Grandma.

This photo was pinned up in my mom's art studio for a time, so it has white pain flecks on it. Grandma & Grandpa (my mother's parents) owned a paint store at the time. They've both since passed on, and I think Uncle Max as well (not really sure since we've lost touch with that portion of the family, I do recall that Uncle Max, who married my mother's sister, wasn't really a very nice man).

Back to work tomorrow, wee~

*edit* Wow, Photobucket did a number on the line breaks... won't be doing that again.
